Tunisia-A radar to monitor the wadis of Medjerda, Mellègue and Tessa

An ultra-precise weather radar will enter service the following fall to observe meteorological developments in part of the basins of the Medjerda, Melag and Tessa wadis (west and north-west of Tunisia), the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries announced.

In anticipation of this commissioning, a team of French specialists paid a visit to the site where the radar will be established.

This radar should make it plausible to observe and follow the progression of a disturbance, determine the intensity of precipitation, issue warnings and alerts, and improve their forecasts.

It was the French company “NOVIMET”, specializing in radar solutions and hydrometeorological services, that developed this radar with funding from the Private Sector Assistance Fund (FASEP).
