Tunisia – A Real Catastrophe… More Than 4,000 New Cases of Breast Cancer Per Year

Dr. Khaled Rahal, professor of surgery and specialist in oncological surgery, as well as president of the Tunisian Association for the Care of Breast Cancer Patients, reported on Saturday that the number of new breast cancer cases in Tunisia has exceeded 4,000 per year. This figure is expected to grow to between 4,200 and 4,300 new cases annually by 2030.

Speaking on the occasion of World Cancer Day, Dr Rahal stressed that breast cancer is the most widespread cancer globally, with over 2.06 million new cases annually, surpassing even lung cancer in incidence worldwide.

He further said that breast cancer accounts for 30% of all cancers affecting women’s health. He highlighted the importance of early detection, noting that if diagnosed at stage zero, the recovery rate reaches 100%.
