Tunisia-Afek Tounes calls 2022 finance bill “imminent danger”

Afek Tounes divulged that the 2022 finance bill was not drafted according to brave new approaches to meet the expectations of Tunisians. The party pointed to the boost in taxes revealing that the law in question motivates the shadow economy in the absence of true-to-life measures to revive the national economy, create wealth and encourage investment.

It said that the President of the Republic had neglected his responsibilities, recollecting that the complementary finance law and the 2022 finance law were drawn up by a single party that monopolizes all the powers and without conferring the other components.

According to Afek Tounes, this is a parachuted law that lacks clarity and further deepens the ambiguity about how the workings of the state work. The party slammed the contradictory rhetoric about the country’s sovereignty, the prioritization of marginalized categories as well as decisions that accentuate the impoverishment of citizens and increase indebtedness.

Afek Tounes likewise cautioned against the policy of intimidation as well as accusations of treason that will lead to an environment that will discourage investors. “Being the person who monopolizes all the powers, Kais Saied must take accountability for the deterioration of the critical socio-economic situation in the country” reads the same statement.
