Tunisia-After AMT, Magistrates’ Union reaches an agreement with the government

The president of the Tunisian Magistrates’ Union (SMT), Amira Amri, affirmed that an agreement has been reached with the presidency of the government.

The deal should be signed this Thursday, December 24, 2020, she added to the TAP agency, emphasising that a meeting of the different professional structures will be held consequently to decide on the future of the strike.

“The government team regarded thoughtfully the proposals presented yesterday and revealed a real will to get out of the crisis, which helped to reach an agreement,” she maintains.

On Monday, magistrates held a day of national anger accompanied by a demonstration outside the Tunis courthouse.

The strike follows the appeal launched by the Tunisian Union of Magistrates, the Union of Magistrates of the Court of Accounts, the Union of Administrative Magistrates and the Tunisian Association of Women Judges.
