Tunisia-Akremi case: Defense Committee for Belaïd and Brahmi will file a complaint against Hasna Ben Slimane

The Defense  Committee for Martyrs Chokri Belaïd and Mohamed Brahmi formally filed a complaint with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on Thursday against the transgressions perpetrated by Judge Béchir Akremi in Belaïd and Brahmi cases.

This was declared Tuesday, July 13, 2021, by the attorney and member of the Committee Abdennaceur Aouini in a video posted on the Facebook page of the Committee for the defence of the martyrs Chokri Belaïd and Mohamed Brahmi. He pointed out that the Committee prepared to prosecute interim Minister of Justice Hasna Ben Slimane accusing her of having used all means to retrieve proof which overwhelmed Akremi and did not hand it over to the Council of the judicial order in charge of the judge’s disciplinary file.

Aouini revealed, in this sense, that the disciplinary file of Akremi was unfinished and lacked many elements in particular all the files of terrorism, among others, which he had pronounced between August 11 and 15 September 2020 while the decision to mutate his post of public prosecutor to the Tunis Court of First Instance had been taken.

He added that the complaints lodged by the Committee for the Defense had likewise not been included by the General Inspectorate at the Ministry of Justice into the disciplinary file of Bashir Akremi. Aouini emphasised that all the offences performed and harassment exercised against certain judges to defend Bashir Akremi would be notified to the Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers and that a protest sit-in would be arranged soon in front of the headquarters of the Council of the judiciary to enlighten public opinion on all the offences committed for Bashir Akremi and condemn all those who try to clear him.
