Tunisia-Al Massar will not participate in next legislative elections

Al Massar has declared that it will not partake in the next legislative elections, scheduled for December 17, 2022.

In a declaration made public, this Sunday, the party explains its response to the establishment of what it called an”unconstitutional” electoral law, a political climate in crisis, and the absence of any guarantee of organizing “free “,” pluralists “and” transparent ” elections.

“These factors stop any serious participation in the party in the legislative election,” reads the same source.

Al Massar reiterates its commitment to all the excluded from these elections, young people, women, political parties, national organizations and associations to resist the concentration of power and attempts to hinder pluralism.

According to the new electoral law presented by President Kaïs Saïed, Tunisians will elect their MPs individually and no longer by voting for a list presented by a political party, says the party.

This law will significantly decrease the role of political parties within Parliament and society.

Al Massar stated it rejected this text, announcing that it would boycott any election organized under the Constitution in its current version.
