Tunisia-Alaa Al Marzouqi: “Rationalization of drinking water is not sufficient to overcome this difficult season” [Video]

In a statement to Tunisie Numérque, coordinator of the Tunisian Water Observatory, Alaa Marzouki expressed that the situation of dams, as it is known, is critical, and all the numbers indicate that.

He clarified that 30% of the dams’ stock has remained at these percentages for a while and has not surpassed them. Rather, at the start of this year, it was around 27%, which forced the supervisory authority, which is the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources and the National Company for Water Exploitation and Distribution to rationalize drinking water for more than one year, beginning from March 2023.

The speaker emphasised that this solution is not sufficient to decrease the water crisis or overcome the drinking water problem in Tunisia, but rather it must be accompanied by other measures to overcome this crisis, which will be difficult
