As part of strengthening the national efforts to battle terrorist plots that would impair the security and stability of our nation and under the direct supervision of the prosecution of the Judicial Pole for the fight against terrorism, the General Directorate of Services of the Specialized National Security succeeded thanks to valid intelligence data as well as high-precision technical monitoring in the field, to detain a terrorist classified as extremely dangerous and who is the subject of many wanted notices.
The takfirist, (part of an extremist movement accusing everyone of apostasy) turns out to be one of the leaders of the terrorist organization identified as “Al-Qaeda” in Tunisia. He had formerly seized leadership functions in one of the hotbeds of tension and had connections with elements of “Oqba Ibn Nafi” battalion, which are taking refugee in the Tunisian mountains.
Through inquiries, it was confirmed that the person concerned correlated with the main heads of “Al-Qaeda” abroad and the elements of the aforementioned battalion inside the country to prepare the implementation and carrying out terrorist operations. It was moreover claimed that he supervised the provision of material and logistical support from abroad.
