Tunisia-Arrest Warrant against Manouba former governor

The investigating judge at the Manouba Court of First Instance issued five detention warrants against the former governor of Manouba, the current CEO of the Oil Office, the former first delegate and the governorate’s head of social affairs, in addition to a governorate staffer and the treasurer of the regional union of collective taxi.

Manouba Court of First Instance spokeswoman Sondos Nouii said in a statement to TAP on Tuesday, that an investigation had been initiated against 95 additional people who had received driving licenses as part of the case of financial and administrative corruption in the allocation of collective taxi licenses in the period between 2011 and 2019 in Manouba.

The charges refer to suspicions related to the formation of a network for the issuance of forged driving and taxi licenses, corruption and blackmail offences.

The same source indicated that 22 people have already been interviewed in this case: 11 have been arrested while the others remain free, namely a former governor (2011-2014), a former secretary-general and members of the regional union of collective taxi.

The investigation is ongoing as of October 26, 2021, for the suspects who are still at liberty, including a former official within the governorate of Manouba, executives of the governorate and beneficiaries of taxi licenses.
