Tunisia-[Audio ] Imad Ben Halima: Refusal to free Sami Fehri is a crime

In a declaration to “Tunisie Numérique” attorney Imad Ben Halima explained that Sami Fehri was kept under parole while being interrogated by the investigating magistrate, however, the public prosecutor appealed the judge ruling and issued an arrest warrant against Fehri.

Fehri confronted the verdict, explained Halima, he pointed out that the judgment does not provide the ground for Custody Trial but keeps him under parole. The ruling was overruled by the court of cassation. He emphasised that the verdict sets Fehri free.

In the same context, he emphasised that Fehri was supposed to be legally discharged before yesterday midnight. He affirmed that it’s illogical and incomprehensible for the Procurator-General not to implement the issued ruling speciality since Fehri legal status is similar to Nabil Karoui.

Under the Tunisian criminal justice system, the resolution to retain Fehri in prison is considered a crime, added Halima.
