Tunisia-[Audio] Mabrouk Korchid: formation of the government does not seem to be on the agenda at the moment

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique,MP Mabrouk Korchid felt that “the era of ambiguity has begun”. According to Korchid, yesterday’s address by the President of the Republic shows that the dissolution of Parliament is not on the agenda at the moment. Furthermore, the Head of State does not seem in a rush to form a government, since he has stated that the government will only be formed after the establishment of a text on the provisional organization of public powers, i.e. not before three or four months.

On the other hand, nobody knows who will be in charge of outlining this text, he added, emphasising that the drafting of a new electoral law cannot be done without parliament. The MP further found Kais Saied’s speech disappointing overall. Korchid felt that the President of the Republic should have reached a consensus with the central political actors in order to organize a referendum and take the following step peacefully.
