Tunisia – Audio Rym Mourali :Kais Saïed has not yet put himself in the shoes of a president

President Kais Saied visit to France is very critical to Tunisia in particular, given the current situation we are experiencing internally, regionally and globally, said President of the Tunisian Independence Party and activist Rym Mouali in a statement to Tunisie Numérique.

Our speaker added that this visit befalls after the coronavirus crisis and amid expectations of a second wave.

Mourali considered that the outcomes of this visit depend on the performance of President Kais Saïed, particularly since he is different from late President Beji Caïed Essebsi who was characterized with Ease of communication and fluency in Fench as well as mental presence.

Reflecting on the process the head of state had addressed the situation in Libya, Mourali said that Saïed did not straight address the issue and did not give an official position. “Saïed introduced himself as a teacher again. He has not yet put himself in the shoes of a head of state,” she affirmed.

On another note, she criticized Kais Saïed’s proposal for the establishment of a temporary Libyan constitution as it was the case in Afghanistan in 2002, saying that this example is inappropriate.

All the same, Mourali said that the president’s visit to France can be positively invested at different levels due to the many crises currently raging in Tunisia.

On the other hand, she considered that Saïed’s speech in Paris could have been much better.
