Tunisia – Automotive Components: Chinese Company Explores Potential Industrial Project

Chinese automotive components maker Kunshan Chemitec Automotive Components Co., Ltd. is exploring plans to establish a production facility in Tunisia, the country’s Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII) said on Monday.

The company, which specialises in manufacturing and exporting wiring harnesses and cable protection solutions, presented plans for the potential investment during a meeting with APII Deputy Director General Manel Rouis at the agency’s headquarters.

The project is still at the exploratory stage and would involve a production unit covering about 4,000 square metres, APII said in a statement.

The initial investment is estimated at around 3 million euros and could create between 30 and 50 direct jobs. Employment could increase as the project expands, the agency said.

During the meeting, APII officials outlined procedures for establishing and operating companies in Tunisia, along with available support mechanisms, tax incentives and other benefits under current legislation.

The agency also presented information on Tunisia’s industrial sector, including its automotive and aerospace industry dashboard and directory of industrial companies, to help the Chinese delegation identify potential partners and assess investment opportunities.

Kunshan Chemitec operates in six countries and works with several major international automotive industry players, APII said.

The company is currently conducting market and investment prospecting as it considers establishing and expanding its operations in Tunisia.
