    In Tunisia, the governorate of Béja announced that, as part of efforts to support strategic agricultural products, promote Tunisian olive oil, and strengthen synergies between tourism, culture, and agriculture, the regional governor, Ahmed Ben Kharrat, chaired a working meeting on the evening of Thursday, January 22, 2026. The meeting focused on preparations for organizing a promotional olive oil day at the archaeological site of Dougga, scheduled for February 4, 2026.

    The meeting addressed the various organizational and logistical arrangements related to the event, including:

    • defining the overall program of the event and its cultural, tourism, and agricultural components;
    • ensuring sanitary safety standards and the quality of the products on display;
    • securing the site and ensuring smooth management of visitor and exhibitor flows;
    • preserving the aesthetic integrity of the archaeological site and respecting its historical specificity;
    • involving professionals and local producers, with a view to supporting the regional economy and promoting high-quality products.

    It is worth noting that this promotional day is part of the national program to promote Tunisian olive oil, which aims to enhance its value, raise awareness of its strengths and quality, and integrate it into tourism and cultural circuits.

    In closing, the governor stressed the need to strengthen coordination among the various stakeholders involved and to accelerate the completion of the required preparations, in order to ensure the success of this event. The objective, he underlined, is to deliver an initiative worthy of the international reputation of Tunisian olive oil and the heritage value of the Dougga archaeological site, while also helping to boost the region’s attractiveness and support its economic and tourism momentum.
