Tunisia’s Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Ezeddine Ben Cheikh, announced that the country’s investment law now provides major incentives for projects integrating modern technologies — benefits that can cover up to 50% of the total investment value.
Speaking at the 46th Conference of the Union of Arab Agricultural Engineers, the minister explained that these incentives make Tunisia an attractive hub for start-ups specializing in smart irrigation, renewable energy, digital agriculture and agri-tech innovation, according to ministry data.
Ben Cheikh stressed that agriculture is no longer a traditional sector but a growing field for implementing artificial intelligence, digital technologies, remote sensing and other modern tools that enhance productivity, reduce food waste and improve the management of natural resources. He also highlighted the critical role of agricultural engineering in building resilient agricultural systems in the Arab world.
