The regional delegate for agricultural development in Sousse, Najib Al-Fhal, reported the first nodular dermatosis in a herd of cows in the El-Kalâa El-Kobra delegation.
In a statement to the “TAP” agency today, Saturday, he added that the veterinary staff of the Regional Agricultural Development Commission immediately intervened to contain the area where the infection was found and to administer the required vaccinations, which to date amount to 1,200 doses across all delegations, including 700 doses in the El-Kalaa Kobra delegation.
Al-Fhal confirmed that the herd’s situation was under control and that there was no reason to panic or fear, as nodular dermatosis is not transmissible to humans.
It should be mentioned that the El-Kalaa El-Kobra delegation holds the largest share of the cattle herd in the Sousse region, with 4,700 cows out of a total of 13,000 cows in the entire governorate.
