Tunisia-Breaking news: Prime ministry announces new imposed measures to fight COVID-19

The government has announced a new announced a set of strict new measures to fight the spread of COVID-19 in light of the hight tally of infections and deaths. The National Commission for Coronavirus met and overheard proposals by members of the Scientific Committee, the Minister of Economy, Education, Higher Education and the Minister of Social Affairs, following consultations given the delicacy of the health, economic and social situation and in foresight of a further decline of the Situations at various levels, particularly in light of the high rate of infection with the Coronavirus and maintaining the coherence of the health system, the Prime Minister decided the following, reads a statement by the prime ministry .

  • All governors are called to impose a curfew: Monday to Saturday from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am/Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am
  • Trasnprtaon between governorates are banned except for work necessities and exceptional cases that can be justified and students
  • Closure of cafes and restaurants, starting from 4 pm, while respecting the capacity limit of 30% in closed spaces and 50% of open spaces, and organizing intense periodic monitoring campaigns at the level of all dependencies and immediate closure of everyone who violates these procedures
  • Halting lessons in elementary, preparatory schools and institutes, beginning from Wednesday, October 28  until Sunday, November 8
  • This holiday is dedicated to Disinfection of all educational institutions.
  • Stopping attendance classes in public and private universities for a period of two weeks and adopting a remote pedagogical communication system while placing the logistical capacities of universities at the placement of students who do not possess the necessary equipment. University dormitories will not be closed.
  • Banning all public and private demonstrations in all their forms from Friday 30 October to Sunday 15 November 2020
  • All gatherings of more than 4 people are banned in public places, with the exception of transportation
  • Suspension of attending places of worship until 15 November 2020
  •  Proceed to work in the exceptional administrative time until 15 November
  • Excluding all purchases associated with fight COVID-19 from the order regulating public procurement and assigning a special committee at the Ministry of National Defense headed by the Director-General of Military Health to supervise this file
  • Emphasis on the necessity of distancing and wearing masks, and emphasizing the continuation of measures for all violators
