Tunisia-Breaking news: US Monastir dominate EST and claim their first Tunisian Cup

US Monastir  ended its season on a high note by winning the Tunisian Cup for the first time in its history.

After finishing the championship in 3rd place, US Monastir has just won the first title in its history by beating Esperance Sportive de Tunis in the final of the Habib Bourguiba edition of the Tunisian Cup (2-0).

Faced with a poorly formed EST team that did not find its benchmarks and its ideal performance, Anthony Okpotu’s teammates were able to impose their style of play from the start of the game.

The Monastirian playing master, Elyès Jelassi played the bad role for his former club by opening the scoring in the 38th minute on a deflected shot in the goals of Moez Ben Cherifia by Abdelkader Badrane after a first shot rejected by the Esperantist goalkeeper following a a loss of bullet from Yaacoubi and a shot from Ali Amri.

In the second half, Lassaad Chebbi’s men continued their show to add the second goal ten minutes from the end of the match by Yassine Amri, following a long free kick and a wavering of the defense. The forward, entered in the 71st minute, controlled the ball perfectly and deceived Ben Cherifia.

This victory is synonymous with the first title in the history of the Ussemist team, at the end of a season which will undoubtedly be engraved in the memory of the supporters of the USMo.
