The governors of Tunis, Ben Arous, Ariana, and Manouba officially decided, Wednesday, June 30, 2021, to halt indefinitely the movement of individuals and vehicles throughout Grand Tunis from July 1 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Medical emergencies and night workers are excluded from the curfew.
The measures include the following:
- Travel to and from Grand Tunis will be banned for two weeks from July 1 to 14.
- No entrance to the four governorates is allowed except for compelling reasons or to guarantee the smooth running of national and university exams.
- Gatherings, sporting and cultural events, and public and private celebrations and parties are forbidden.
- Prayer in mosques is likewise suspended.
- Party rooms, Moorish baths, sports halls, gaming areas and conference rooms will also be closed. Cafes and restaurants are banned from serving their customers on-site and in closed spaces. Only outdoor spaces are allowed with the lifting of chairs and tables from 4 p.m.
- Tourist restaurants and supermarkets are restricted to a capacity of 30% with respect to health protocols.
