Tunisia- Cafe owners more ferocious than ever

Head of UTICA in Sousse Ali Ben Yahya denounced the preventive measures adopted by the government, in particular the progress of the curfew to 7:00 pm, during the month of Ramadan and described them as “shameful”.

He sensed that the decision to shut down the cafes during this period signifies a true threat to managers and that it does not take into record their economic and social situation. The owners of cafes and restaurants will no longer be capable to cover their most basic needs, he denounced.

Ali Yahya additionally said the unions will meet the day before the release of a statement refusing the measures he has threatened not to implement.

It should be noted that these decisions stimulated the anger of coffee shop and restaurent owners who raised the tone in the face of what they saw as a real threat to their right to a life of dignity.
