Caretaker prime minister Youssef Chahed assured during the handover ceremony that he will remain at the disposal of prime minster Elyes Fakhfakh.
Chahed said Tunisia is now immune to terrorism as the police and army made breakthroughs.
“Tunisia gained 15 spots in the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP)’s Global Terrorism Index 2019,” he added.
Almost all economic indicators are positive, Chahed said as he shed light on the performance of his government (2016-2020).
I heard your speech during the plenary session devoted to the voting of confidence. Today I am delighted to cede power to a head of government of my generation who operates with a government team made up of skills who believe in democracy. However, I am wholehearted with you, given the hurdles that are expecting you, because I am persuaded that you can never please everyone. I am sure you will live up to the responsibility that awaits you. ”, said Chahed.
