COVID-19 updates in Tunisia:

Health authorities reported  76 new deaths, the tally now stands at 13.305. Also, 2373 new cases were recorded, taking the infection toll to 358183.

Shems FM cordoned off by protestors

After criticizing Kram mayor Fethi Laayouni, Shems FM presenter and reporter Hamza Balloumi found himself threatened by people operating in the municipality who cordoned off Shems FM headquarters this morning.

It should be remarked that Balloumi had criticized the closure of a commercial establishment whose owner posted photos and videos criticizing the work of the municipality.

 On his part Prime minister, Hichem Mechichi delivered instructions to guarantee the safety of Shems FM radio and protect its employees. The presidency of the republic also expressed its solidity with Shems FM.

MP Samia Abbou attempted to reason with the protestors and revealed to them that Hamza Balloumi made the statements because the agents were not wearing their uniforms when the town hall decision was executed.

Tunisia-A young man attacked by police: Fetiti demands an apology from Mechichi

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tarak Fetiti called on prime minister Hichem Mechichi to apologize to the Tunisian people after the video of the assault on a young man.

The video has circulated on social networks revealing police officers assaulting a young resident of Sidi Hassine, after having undressed him in the middle of the road.

“What I saw on the video shocked me. I have never witnessed anything like this. It is truly degrading,” deplored the MP.

He pointed out in the same context that the investigation will be able to tell what happened; whether the individual had undressed on his own or if his clothes were forcibly taken by police officers.

UGTT denounces police violence against demonstrators in Sidi Hassine

UGTT condemned on June 10, 2021, police violence against a young Tunisian in Sidi Hassine that happened yesterday June 9, 2021.

The Union Organization has warned of the cruel and heinous oppression of this young man and refuses any excuse for his occurrence.

Furthermore, the UGTT has demanded legal proceedings against those concerned and openly called on the prosecution to start an emergency inquiry as part of the fight against the culture of impunity.

Activist Malek Sghiri dies

 Activist and member of Attayar’s political bureau, Malek Sghiri, died Thursday, June 10, 2021, his relatives announced.

Malek Sghiri drowned in the Oued Medjerda canal while attempting to save his friend, relatives of the deceased state today.

13 Tunisian fishermen arrested in Libya

According to the Center for Human Rights and Development (CDHD), 13 Tunisian fishermen have been detained in Libya.

According to the same source, they were implicated in illegal fishing in territorial waters.

Souïi: The report condemning Nabil Karoui is falsified

Nazih Souïi, Member of the defence committee of Nabil Karoui confirmed, this Thursday, during a press conference, that the report which was written by specialists and on which the justice ruled his detention in jail, is falsified.

The attorney added that Karoui has decided to go on a hunger strike because the decision to prolong his detention is illegal.
