Tunisia-Diplomatic corps union calls for opening the “Chinese donation” Case

Speaking to a private radio on August 23, 2021, the Secretary-General of the Syndicate of the Diplomatic Corps, Brahim Rezgui called for the opening of all corruption affairs since 2012 within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the famous “Chinese gift” file involving former Nahdhaoui minister, Rafik Abdessalem Bouchleka.
Mr. Rezgui called on President Kais Saied to carry out reformations in the diplomatic sector and to consolidate it. Moreover, he invited him to unfold corruption cases and give them a priority, in particular,  recruitments.
“Some individuals do not have a master’s degree or a license and yet they have profited from promotions.” he clarified. The official further claimed that diplomacy remained neutral even after the exceptional decisions of July 25 and did not intervene in the political issue.
It should be remarked that blogger Olfa Riahi unveiled, in 2013, details of the Sheraton Gate affair involving the former Nahdhaoui foreign minister, in the receipt and transference of a Chinese donation, estimated at millions of dollars to his personal account.
