Officers and agents from the Sub-Directorate for Narcotics Control under the Judicial Police Directorate in El Gorjani have recently succeeded in dismantling an international drug trafficking network operating between Tunisia and a European country.
As part of a targeted security operation, police raided a residence in Hay Hlal, where they arrested a couple found in possession of 310 slabs of cannabis resin (zattla) and 100 grams of cocaine. These quantities are considered among the largest seized in recent months.
According to the authorities, the couple was directly involved in the logistics and distribution of narcotics intended for both the domestic and cross-border market. The bust represents a significant blow to organized crime networks that exploit Tunisia as a transit or storage hub.
Meanwhile, other suspected members of the network have been declared wanted, and investigations are ongoing to trace the full extent of the network and identify any potential accomplices operating within Tunisia or abroad.
This operation marks a new success for Tunisian law enforcement in its ongoing efforts to combat transnational organized crime, especially narcotics trafficking, which poses a direct threat to public health, youth, and social stability.
The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying surveillance and intervention operations, while calling for greater international cooperation in dismantling such criminal networks that often operate across multiple jurisdictions.
