The vice-president of the higher independent authority for the elections, Nawfel Frikha, reported, today on Tuesday, that the number of voters registered on the electoral lists inside the country last Saturday, had attained 9, 7 million voters.
According to the latest updated data that he provided to the TAP agency, Frikha revealed that the registered voters are distributed according to age as follows:
– Registered in the age group under 35 are estimated at 32.2 percent of the total electorate.
– Registered aged 36 to 60 are estimated at 47.2 percent
– registered in the age group over 60 are estimated at 20.6 percent
According to Chapter 5 of the fundamental law of elections and referendums, any Tunisian, man or woman, enlisted on the electoral lists and having reached the age of 18 the day before the vote and enjoying his civil and political rights, is considered as a voter.
Tunisian voters will vote on October 6, 2024, while Tunisians from abroad will vote on 4, 5 and 6 of the same month.
The number of polling stations in Tunisia is 9,700 polling stations split into 5,017 voting centres.
According to a statement published today Tuesday by the High Independent Authority for Elections, the deadline for updating the polling station for the presidential election planned for October 6 expires on September 20.
