In an interview with Express FM, caretaker prime minister Elyes Fakhfakh explained that he invested with friends in three projects in the sector of the environment with capital varying between 10% and 30%, saying that we cannot talk about Exploiting influence since he wasn’t a prime minister when the deals were conducted
He admitted that he made mistake by not rushing to give up the responsibility of management at the centre of these companies, saying that his main concern at the time was to confront the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, particularly since the legal deadlines for f relinquishment were still open.
He further reported that he had declared his assets when taking the prime ministry, stressing that Exploiting influence is not a charge.
The resigned PM admitted to his mistake of not giving needed clarification on the conflict of interest since the beginning, adding that he was regretting his silence on some of the fallacies.
Fakhfakh considered that what happened is a crime against the country and not against him.
