In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, today, Tuesday, July 16, 2024, financial and economic expert Bassam Ennaifer noted that the features of the new check were shown in Tunisia, which includes a general ceiling on the value of the check estimated at 30 thousand dinars, in addition to establishing the validity period of the chequebook at one year only.
Ennaifer added that what is also new is that all checks will not be able to be removed immediately unless the client requests that from the bank. He said that it was highlighted that the check must be submitted to the person who will dispose of it and benefit from it, and this comes within the framework of protecting individuals from obtaining checks without funds.
The same source also revealed that this law also ensures protection for merchants and those dealing with checks by enabling them to verify whether a check is cashable or not through a digital platform.
