Tunisia-Ezzeddine Saidane: 70,000 SMEs have gone bankrupt due to the pandemic

Economist Ezzeddine Saidane has stated that with the exception of banks and supermarkets the corporation tax is consolidated at 15%. So hundreds of companies are currently in a catastrophic situation for several reasons, including the remains of the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, he explained.
The said companies proceeded to spend money despite their shutdown during this period. The state should have injected the required sums to permit these companies to withstand economic difficulties and to stop the people working in them from becoming unemployed, as was the case in many countries. But it didn’t, denounced the economist.
Result: The figures currently indicate the bankruptcy of approximately 70,000 SMEs due to the pandemic. In addition, companies are now unable to resort to bank loans because the banks’ favour granting loans to the state, said Ezzeddine Saidane.
