MP Al Jamii Zoueidi, the official in charge of information at the National Council of Regions and Districts, said in an exclusive statement to Tunisie Numérique that the no-confidence motion targeting the Council’s President—initially signed by 28 MPs—has failed on procedural grounds for not meeting the legal requirements regarding the number of signatories.
According to him, three MPs withdrew their support, bringing the number of signatures down to 25, which does not reach one third of the Council’s members.
“It will not resurface,” the MP claims
Al Jamii Zoueidi added that the motion had “collapsed by all measures and standards” and would not return to the forefront, in his words. He said this outcome followed a dialogue between the Council President and the MPs concerned, during which an agreement was reached to overcome difficulties, bridge differences, and improve working conditions.
Nine MPs reportedly signed the withdrawal
The MP also stated that nine MPs had signed the withdrawal of the motion “from the outset,” considering the matter definitively closed.
Call for unity around a “development plan”
In the same context, Al Jamii Zoueidi said the Council of Regions and Districts was “united as one” to draft a development plan he described as fair and effective, breaking with what he called “impoverishing development models” that have weighed on citizens for decades.
He also urged people to “close ranks” in support of the July 25 project and to back the President of the Republic in what he described as a fight against poverty, marginalization, and corruption, as well as against what he referred to as cartels and lobbies, according to his statement.
