The regional head of animal production under the agriculture directorate in Gafsa confirmed that no less than 61 cases of bluetongue disease have been reported among the herds in the region, between cattle and sheep.
The same source added that regional animal health services have distributed insecticides to battle mosquitoes that transmit the disease to farmers whose farms have been infected.
