Tunisia-Governorates with most buildings at risk of collapse

A plenary session is being held today at the House embly of People’s Representatives to examine the bill relating to buildings threatened with collapse.

According to the said bill, these buildings need intervention for full or partial rehabilitation or demolition.

The bill relating to buildings threatened with collapse provides for financial fines varying from 2 thousand dinars to 20 thousand dinars to be imposed on offenders.

This bill, which was presented to the parliament also proposes to fix the terms and amount of compensation for damaged people.

According to figures for 2023, in Tunisia, buildings built before 1956 represent 6% of houses in the country, or around 181 thousand buildings, the majority of which are located in large cities (Grand Tunis, Sfax and Bizerte).
