Tunisia has granted 187 licenses to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to produce electricity from solar photovoltaic energy, with a combined capacity of nearly 287 megawatts, Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy announced.
The licenses were awarded under the fifth phase of the call for projects dedicated to solar power generation within the authorization regime. The announcement was made during the National Conference on Renewable Energy Projects under the authorization system, organized by the Tunisian Confederation of Citizen Enterprises.
The minister stated that the number of licenses reflects the strong engagement of Tunisia’s private sector and its confidence in the country’s energy transition strategy. She emphasized Tunisia’s commitment to strengthening energy sovereignty and security through effective public-private partnerships and enhanced cooperation at both national and international levels.
