During a press conference held in Tunis, this Wednesday, September 23, 2020, the Director-General of the Pasteur Institute, Hechmi Louzir reported that the flu vaccine is effective and essential for populations at risk but it does not protect of Coronavirus.
He added that the social segment most susceptible to Coronavirus, particularly, the elderly, the chronically ill and pregnant women, are the same when it comes to seasonal flu.
Louzir stressed that a person can catch both the flu and the coronavirus, noting that in this case of co-infection the consequences are worse.
