Tunisia- Hichem Ajbouni: Dispute between the two heads of executive power is only the tip of the iceberg

Speaking today on National Radio, Democratic Bloc MP Hichem Ajbouni stated the actual conflict is between Rached Ghannouchi and Kais Saied and that the conflict with prime minister Hichem Mechichi is nothing more than a facade.

Furthermore, the President of the Republic alluded to this dispute during the meeting which took place yesterday at  Carthage palace opposing the declarations of Ghannouchi according to which the Head of State would only have a symbolic function, he evoked.

The MP also recorded that Kais Saied came to power with more than 2 million votes, which is far from Ghannouchi whose popularity is controversial, to say the least.

He likewise said that substituting the 4 ministers suspected of corruption and conflict of interest will in no way resolve the political problems that the nation is currently experiencing. According to him, Mechichi has clearly lost the trust that was placed in him when the administration was formed.

Clearly, the quandary is constitutional, but it is in fact a political crisis that Tunisia has been undergoing for numerous years already. The proof, the country has known 13 governments in 10 years, he added.
