In a statement to Tunisie Numérique today, Friday, July 5, 2024, water resources specialist Hussein Rhaili noted that the percentage of dam capacity in Tunisia as of June 30 was less than 30 percent, a worrying data, as the amount of available water is estimated at 690 million cubic meters.
Rhaili added that these numbers are especially weak with the onset of the peak water consumption season, whether in tourist units or for vegetables and irrigated crops. Further, the evaporation process is exacerbated by the high temperatures.
