A Takfiri was arrested over plotting a terror attack, the Interior Ministry announced.
The arrest is the outcome of a proactive operation conducted out under the direction of the public prosecutor’s office at the Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division.
The man “took advantage of the critical situation predominating in the country considering the spread of the COVID-19,” reads a press release.
This “lone wolf terrorist” was planning a terrorist attack during the month of Ramadan on a security facility or a sensitive site. He admitted he had pledged allegiance to Daech and secured ties with two other terrorists in the country.
He also said he had started acquiring equipment needed for making explosive devices, the ministry said.
The Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division issued detention warrants for the three terrorists.
