Tunisia – Japan: Visit of Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs MATSUMOTO

The Embassy of Japan in Tunisia has announced that Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, MATSUMOTO Hisashi, is currently on an official working visit to Tunis, which began yesterday, May 4.

This morning, Vice-Minister MATSUMOTO visited La Rabta Hospital, where he attended a ceremony alongside Dr. Mustapha FERJANI, Tunisia’s Minister of Health, for the handover of medical equipment, including endoscopes, delivered to 23 hospitals across the country. The donation is part of a grant program worth 300 million yen (approximately 6.2 million Tunisian dinars), signed in 2022.

Mr. MATSUMOTO also toured the hospital’s cardiology department. In July, a training program organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will bring together 15 doctors from seven African countries. The program will utilize catheters provided through the same grant and will offer training that blends Japanese technology with Tunisian expertise in the field of cardiology.
