The Minister of Equipment and Housing announced on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, during a plenary session at the Assembly of the Representatives of the People, that 2026 will mark the launch of major projects in the fields of bridges and roads, at an estimated cost of nearly 2.8 billion dinars. These projects include 16 highway and expressway routes, seven bridges, as well as national and regional roads and rural tracks.
The minister specified that the projects currently underway — numbering around 80 and valued at more than 4.2 billion dinars — notably include the Tunis–Jelma highway, scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, along with the Bizerte and Korbous bridges and several other projects expected to be finalized خلال 2026.
He also indicated that the 2026–2030 period will be devoted to drafting a development plan based on clearly defined priorities, their submission to a Cabinet Council, and the mobilization of the necessary funding for implementation. The plan will cover the sectors of bridges and roads, urban development, flood protection for cities, and housing provision.
