Tunis Survey, an expert in online surveys and digital studies, has just uncovered the results of its popularity barometer of the 3 presidents. Its goal is to measure the degree of satisfaction of Tunisian Internet users with the performance of the 3 presidents: Kaïs Saïed, Rached Ghannouchi and Hichem Mechichi.
Opposite the other 13 previous waves, the results published relate to a special edition marked by the results of the 14th before July 25 Versus the results the 15th after July 25.
It should be remembered that on July 25, 2021, which coincides with the celebration of the Republic of Tunisia, the President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed decides to suspend the parliament, lift parliamentary immunity on all MPs and dismiss prime minister Hichem Mechichi.
July 25 was characterised by a series of protests throughout Tunisia, in the midst of a health crisis. Various offices of the Ennahdha Movement have been stormed with still the same demand to dissolve the parliament singled out as the source of the strangling economic and social crisis in the nation.
On the evening of July 25 and during an emergency meeting at Carthage palace, the President of the Republic invoked article 80 of the constitution and addressed the people with a set of measures: “According to the Constitution, I took decisions responding to the situation in order to save Tunisia, the State and the Tunisian people ”.
This special edition of the barometer is based on 2 self-administered online surveys (waves) as follows:
- The 14th wave ran from July 22 to 25 with 1,033 respondents.
This wave of inquiry concerns the 3 Presidents: Kaïs Saïed, Rached Ghannouchi and Hichem Mechichi.
- The 15th Wave from July 26 to August 05 with 4,159 respondents.
This wave of investigation involves only the 02 remaining Presidents: Kaïs Saïed and Rached Ghannouchi as Hichem Mechichi is dismissed from his post.
For this special edition, the results speak for themselves: July 25 pushes the popularity of Kaïs Saïed and Rached Ghannouchi is still digging.
For wave 14 of the barometer, respondents’ satisfaction with each of the 03 presidents is as follows:
- For Kaïes Saïed 35% of respondents were satisfied with his performance
- For Hichem Mechichi 11% of respondents were satisfied with his performance
- For Rached Ghannouchi 8% of respondents were satisfied with his performance
For the 15th wave of the barometer, respondents’ satisfaction with each of the 02 presidents is as follows:
- For Kaïes Saïed 87% of respondents are satisfied with his performance
- For Rached Ghannouchi 6% of respondents are satisfied with his performance
July 25 was decisive for Kaïs Saïd who went from 35% satisfaction to 87%, a popularity gain of 52%. As for Rached Ghannouchi, he is unquestionably the record holder for unpopularity for 15 successive waves. His unpopularity has hit rock bottom so much that there is little to hope for.
