Tunisia-Kais Saied: “I assure everyone, in Tunisia and abroad, that I will never intervene in the judicial system”

The President of the Republic, Kais Saied announced during his meeting with prime ministerNajla Bouden that a bill relating to the Superior Council of the Judiciary is ready. “I desire to reassure everyone, in Tunisia and abroad, that I will never intervene in the judicial system or in any case or appointment, and that the dissolution of the council has been adopted because it has become essential and the people want to purge the country,” he clarified.

“The necessity imposed an ending to these farces. There are those who view the judiciary as a tool to achieve their interests. I do not desire to monopolize all the powers, and I want a constitution that emanates from the will of the people… There are many cases and examples, including those enrolled to date. They conceal them (the real assassins) as one of them declined to provide the defence committee with documents condemning the assassin of Brahmi, Belaid and several security and military agents,” he added.

“This decree needs to be promulgated as soon as possible, and the judiciary must be at the level of the historical moment,” he said.
