A man in his thirties was discovered dead in Feriana in Kasserine governorate, according to a private radio station.
According to the same source, the victim had traces of stab injuries and is speculated of being of Algerian origin.
The prosecution came to the scene to inspect the body before allowing an investigation to be initiated.
The region has seen notable security and military reinforcements on the Tunisian and Algerian side after a number of Algerian citizens threatened to cross borders and get the body by force.
