The National Agency for Energy Management (ANME) has announced the opening of applications for taxi drivers operating in the municipalities of Bizerte, Sfax, and Djerba (Houmt Souk, Ajim, and Midoun) to benefit from a financial grant aimed at supporting the acquisition of 50 electric taxis.
The initiative offers a subsidy of 10,000 Tunisian dinars and forms part of a broader program to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in Tunisia. The project is financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in partnership with ANME and the Ministry of Environment.
Eligibility criteria
The call for applications targets holders of a valid individual taxi license who operate within one of the designated municipalities. Applicants must be between 31 and 59 years old at the time of submission and must obtain preliminary financing approval from a bank or leasing company, or provide proof of self-financing capacity.
Interested taxi drivers are invited to submit their applications to benefit from the program, which aims to modernize Tunisia’s taxi fleet, promote clean transportation, and reduce carbon emissions.
Through this initiative, Tunisian authorities seek to advance the country’s energy transition while encouraging transport professionals to adopt environmentally friendly mobility solutions.
