Tunisia’s Minister of Social Affairs, Issam Lahmar, announced on Wednesday the official launch of the National School Inclusion Program for children with disabilities, beginning in January 2026. The announcement was made during a national forum organized in partnership with the Ministry of Education at the International Center for Trainer Development and Pedagogical Innovation, under the theme: “An Inclusive Society for Social Justice.”
The initiative coincides with the celebration of the International and National Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed annually on December 3, and aims to promote equal opportunities within the education system.
The minister explained that the new inclusion model relies on the training of specialized educational assistants, coming mainly from the adult education system, to support students with disabilities inside schools and throughout their academic journey.
These assistants, all university graduates, will undergo specialized training during the December winter break, supervised by experts from the Ministry of Education to ensure full readiness before the program’s launch.
