Lotfi Riahi, President of the Tunisian Organization to Inform the Consumer (OTIC), announced on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the launch of a new artificial intelligence-based application named “OTIC Tunisia – My Basket” (Koffti). The initiative follows the organization’s earlier establishment of a call center aimed at strengthening consumer support services.
Tracking Prices and Managing Household Budgets
The mobile application will feature several sections, starting with “My Basket,” which will provide regularly updated prices for fresh products and other goods. The tool will also enable users to estimate the real cost of preparing meals based on family size, helping households better manage their budgets.
A Platform for Consumer Complaints
A second section will be dedicated to complaints, allowing citizens to report violations and track their sources through coordination with oversight bodies such as the Ministry of Trade and the National Health Control Authority.
According to Riahi, reports can be submitted via voice messages or text — even in formats similar to social media posts — before being automatically converted into standard text and forwarded to the relevant authorities, ensuring faster and more efficient processing.
Strengthening Market Oversight
Riahi emphasized that the application will support regulatory agencies by enabling rapid intervention through the identification of the type and location of violations. Additional educational sections are expected to be added in later phases to enhance consumer awareness and explain the legal framework governing market infractions.
Launch Expected Before Ramadan
The “OTIC Tunisia – My Basket” (Koffti) app is scheduled to be available for download during the first week of Ramadan. A promotional campaign will accompany the launch to introduce its features and encourage widespread adoption.
Riahi highlighted that artificial intelligence will play a central role throughout the app’s operation — from submitting reports and automatically transmitting them to control authorities to processing requests and providing responses to users.
