Tunisia-Majdouline Cherni opens fire on Habiba Ghribi

Tunisian runner Habiba Ghribi stated former Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Majdoulin Charni, withheld her from obtaining a certificate as sports  coach to guarantee practical future.

Ghribi said “She denied me of a title that I earned since I met all the necessary conditions, specifically to be a medalist etc. I sacrificed my studies at the ISSEP (Higher Institute of Sport and Physical Education) to be able to dedicate myself to my career on an international scale. I entirely deserved this title and I was at the top of the list. I was certainly surprised by the removal of my name from the list of successful candidates. My file was denied for an insignificant reason of no value. It was indeed, a competition on file, there was among the documents to provide a school certificate. I provided the wrong document; a certificate that I obtained from the ISSEP. Even if there was a missing document, shouldn’t they – NDLR: officials in the ministry – contact me to bring it? I would have done it within 24 hours. It didn’t deserve to have my name removed from the list… Because of this incident, I am now on technical unemployment ”, she regretted.

Responding to the athlete accusation, former sports minister Majdoulin Charni spoke to radio IFM by sayinfg  “Our dear champion Habiba Ghribi, you have the absolute right to never pardon me for having implemented the law to the letter. But I would never have pardoned myself if I had gone beyond the law and opted for favouritism and discrimination. Everyone is on an equal footing before the law but I can still understand your opinion as long as some people lack a culture of law enforcement, equality and transparency and it is not in any case, not my fault…. The Ministry of Youth and Sports arranged an external competition for the recruitment of sports presenter. Ms Habiba Ghribi gave her case as all the other candidates. After the expiration of the deadlines and when studying the application, it turned out that one of the required documents was missing. her file was therefore systematically cancelled following the civil service law and not that of Majdouline Cherni. I thank the Directorate General of Common Services of the Ministry of Youth and Sports for applying the law and for not giving in to pressure. Indeed, Habiba Ghribi asked her integration into the public service despite the file rejection. She settled up filing a complaint with the administrative court. Of course, the latter did justice by dropping the file. This decision was taken by the recruitment commission, which includes representatives of the various ministries and the government presidency, ”she said.
