Former education minister Mohamed Hamdi affirmed that parliament has become a space devoted to physical violence under the presidency of House speaker Rached Ghannouchi.
The latter did not do what was needed to guarantee that the acts of violence exercised Al Karama MPs did not replicate themselves, explained Mohamed Hamdi to Tunisie Numérique. “He did not condemn this violence in an explicit and nominative way, he did not initiate an internal inquiry and did not contact the public prosecutor”, he added, estimating that the presidency of the Parliament is trying to to “normalize” violence within the Parliament.
He, on another level, affirmed that the presidency of the republic denounced the violence, even if the Tunisians expected more, unlike the presidency of the government which communicated no position.
