More than 17,000 mask-wearing offences have been reported in a month, according to Interior Ministry official Khaled Hayouni.
From October 5 to November 1, 2020, security units registered 4,768 curfew violations and 17,062 violations for not wearing masks.
In addition,12,813 health offences, such as non-compliance with social distancing, were identified, and 485 businesses were closed.
Despite the delicate epidemiological situation, wearing a mask remains an option for most citizens. According to the Director-General of Health at the Ministry of Health, Faycel Ben Salah, only 40% of Tunisians wore masks during the month of October.
