Tunisia: Municipal police conduct large-scale crackdown, hundreds of violations recorded in one day

    On 12 February 2026, units of the Tunisian Municipal Police carried out extensive inspection campaigns nationwide, achieving significant results in public security and health and economic monitoring.

    Public security operations

    As part of efforts to combat violations and illegal occupation of public spaces, the operations resulted in:

    • 87 seizure operations,

    • 39 judicial reports issued,

    • The immediate removal of 357 unauthorized street vending points,

    • The seizure of 40 weighing scales,

    • The handover of 8 wanted individuals to relevant security and judicial authorities,

    • The seizure of 4 motorcycles and 1 vehicle lacking proper legal documentation.

    Health and economic enforcement

    In the health and economic sectors, inspection teams recorded:

    • 210 economic violations,

    • 149 health-related violations, mainly concerning hygiene and regulatory compliance.

    These campaigns are part of ongoing efforts to enforce the law, safeguard consumer rights, and maintain public order across the country.
