In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, today, Thursday, June 6, 2024, former diplomat Abdullah Obeidi stated that Spain’s joining South Africa in its lawsuit against Israel concerning the crime it perpetrated against the Palestinian people would give the case special weight.
Obaidi added that this comes because Spain is a member of the EU on the one hand, in addition to the fact that it was among the first countries to call for recognition of the Palestinian state since the beginning of the war on Gaza on the seventh of last October.
Our speaker likewise pointed out that Spain was the one that led the initiative to have other countries recognize Palestine, remarking that this step would give a new dimension to the cause and might also embarrass several Arab countries.
Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez revealed a short while ago that his country will join South Africa in its lawsuit against Israel before the International Court of Justice.
