Tunisia-PDL condemns parliament publication of declaration on Day of Republic without consultation

The Free Destourian Party (PDL) parliamentary bloc condemned the statement by the parliament on the Day of the Republic without presenting it to the parliamentary groups for review of its contents.

The PDL affirms that the parliament’s declaration does not commit it in any way, requesting for its removal from the Parliament’s official page and social networks.

The PDL group also condemned the “blatant violations” of the parliament Speaker, who, the same source accuses, has created “a fictitious institution” which does not exist in the parliament’s rules of procedure. In allusion to “the institution of the presidency of parliament.”

The Group laments the publication by the House Speaker announcements without deliberation with the parliamentary groups. Statements with a partisan content which avert the parliamentary institution from its occupation and decrease it to an instrument in the hands of its speaker.

The group similarly denounces the distortion of the independent State, the falsification of history and the devaluation of the sacrifices made by men and women for the building of the modern State, in an effort to weaken the collective memory.
